About Elmhurst Handyman

Elmhurst Handyman has been a working part of the Sacramento, CA home repair and maintenance community since 2014. We're a local, owner-operated handyman service built on the straightforward idea that homeowners deserve skilled, honest work at a fair price — without the runaround.

Our Story

Elmhurst Handyman started in 2014 out of a practical observation: Sacramento homeowners needed someone they could actually call and count on. The larger contractors were often too busy for smaller jobs, and too many solo handymen were unreliable. Jake Clements had spent years helping neighbors, friends, and family members with home repairs — and doing it well. Starting a formal business was the natural extension of work he was already doing.

From the beginning, the focus was on doing the work right. That meant arriving when scheduled, giving honest estimates, finishing jobs completely, and not leaving a mess behind. Those principles haven't changed. Elmhurst Handyman has grown through word of mouth in the Sacramento area because the work earns repeat calls and referrals — and that's still the primary way new customers find us.

Today, Elmhurst Handyman serves a wide range of clients throughout Sacramento and the surrounding metro area, including homeowners, renters managing maintenance through property managers, and commercial property owners with routine maintenance needs. The scope of work ranges from single small repairs to comprehensive lists of deferred maintenance tasks.

Meet the Manager — Jake Clements

Jake Clements is a Sacramento native who has spent his career building a reputation as a skilled, reliable handyman in the local community. He started Elmhurst Handyman after years of working on homes across the Sacramento area, recognizing a consistent gap between what homeowners needed and what was available to them.

Jake oversees day-to-day operations and handles much of the work directly. His approach is methodical and thorough: assess the actual problem, not just the visible symptom; explain clearly what needs to be done and why; do the work to a standard that holds up. Customers throughout Sacramento and the surrounding communities — from Elk Grove to Roseville to Fair Oaks — know that when Jake schedules a job, it gets done.

Jake's experience covers the full range of handyman trades: carpentry, drywall, tile, plumbing fixtures, electrical maintenance, decks, fences, and general home maintenance. He stays current on building standards applicable to Sacramento-area homes and brings the right tools and materials to every job.

Our Values

Elmhurst Handyman operates by a few principles that have guided the business since day one:

  • Show up. Being on time isn't a bonus — it's basic respect for your customer's schedule.
  • Do the work correctly. Every job we take has our name on it. We don't cut corners.
  • Be honest. If the job is outside our scope, we say so. If the estimate needs to change, we discuss it first.
  • Charge a fair rate. Good work doesn't have to mean inflated prices. We price work to reflect what it actually takes.
  • Leave it clean. Your home should look better when we leave than it did when we arrived.
